Community Scan Day 2018
This event is a project of the Kalona Community Heritage Project as an opportunity to digitize historic items in the community to add to the Iowa Heritage Digital Collection. Digitizing items is an excellent way to preserve historic materials and help tell the story of our area. The first Kalona Community Scan Day will be held Saturday April 21st in the Kalona Public Library. Locals are encouraged to sign up for a one-hour session with volunteers to digitize up to 20 scannable items. Materials scanned will be added to the Kalona exhibits on the Iowa Heritage Digital Collection and will help tell the story of the Kalona area. At this time, historic materials related to the Kalona area before 1960 are requested. Interested parties are asked to visit the Kalona Public Library to register or call during open hours.
