BOOK LOVERS CELEBRATE WITH
SWEET EVENT AT KALONA LIBRARY
February is a time when sweethearts traditionally express their love. This year, Kalona-area residents sweet on books--and desserts--can get a head start on Valentine's Day with a special event, "Library Lovers: Treats to Steal Your Heart!," to be held Sunday, February 10, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Kalona Public Library.
Members of the Kalona Library Foundation and
other guest chefs will be whipping up a number of decadent desserts, with the
proceeds to be used to purchase traditional, large-print and audio books. The
cost for this multi-sensory spectacular is $10 per person, or $15 for
two.
"This is a splendid opportunity to have fun,
enjoy some great desserts, and raise money for a worthy cause," says Martha
Beckman, one of the co-chairs of the event. "We want to get people into the
library, and this is just one more way to enjoy this tremendous local
resource."
Visitors to the library between now and
February 10 may receive free bookmarks reminding them of the event. For tickets
