University of Iowa Museum of Art
-
The University of Iowa Museum of Art is back again this summer. This time they will present objects from their Native American and First Peoples collection, with a focus on American Indian Ledger Drawings. A special focus will be on storytelling. This program is suitable for the whole family, although children younger than 6 may not be interested in sitting still for this.

Special Presenter Kristin Simon

Kristin Simon will ask us, "Does stuff really make people happy? If not, what does?" We shall attempt to answer these questions by sharing Patrick McDonnell's book The Gift of Nothing and through fun activities. Snack will be provided. Suitable for ages 6-8.

Grout Museum/Bluedorn Science Imaginarium STARLAB
-
The STARLAB is a portable planetarium, able to hold an audience of 25-35 comfortable. One planetarium show is approximately 30-45 minutes long, plus a question and answer time before and after. Sign up is required and is first come, first served. We will be able to do at least 2 shows if we have enough kids sign up. This event is intended for kids ages 6-12. The first show will be at 3:00 p.m. and, if needed, a second show will be at 3:40 p.m. This show will be held in the Kalona Rec Center.

Blank Park Zoo--Show & Tell

This traditional live animal program is designed to accommodate a large audience of all ages. The zoo will bring at least three animals to share during an interactive lesson. Children will be encouraged to answer thought-provoking questions about the animals and will have the opportunity to ask questions of their own. Suitable for ages 4-12.
